it's the most, wonderfully hectic time of year

9 adults, 3 dogs and 2 kids = I didn't get a lot of pictures.  But we had a wonderful time together.  There's even a cute video at the bottom. :)

Merry Merry!!

 these are dog days

We have two sick popsicles here - Em is the only healthy one. One sinus infection and one Type-A flu is really cramping our pre-spring style. This is pretty much how we're feeling these days.

Luckily, the medicine is helping and everyone is napping. We are SO ready for sunshine!!

 boo

Happy Halloween!!

It will be an interesting day for sure. 2 of us already have sinus infections, and the 3rd (me) is fighting it tooth and nail. We've tried to take it easy this week, stay close to home and get lots of rest. But there's no rest for the weary! So much to do! House projects are in full swing and today we have to paint the entire upstairs (well, Roger will do the hard labor and Emma and I will supervise and keep ourselves busy). Then we have a neighborhood Halloween happy hour, followed by trick-or-treating with Morgan & Tommy!

Emma can't wait for that part. We've been practicing our trick or treat and she is VERY excited about wearing her costume. Luckily, Parker is just as enthusiastic - he'll make a great Hansl. :)

Happy Halloween from Hansl & Gretl!

Love & Yogurt: A Play in Three Acts

We are SOOO ready for summer around here. Yes, I know we live in San Diego, but summer is still summer. The pools are out, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, the grills are cooking and the beer floweth.

Sunday was a gorgeous day, so we decided to hang outside. Lunchtime came around, and Emma wanted to share her yogurt with Parker. They are such sweet friends.

For those of you who know and love Parker, you'll be sad to hear that he is going deaf. This is my tribute to you, sweet Prince Parker.

 the good life

Parker would like everyone to know how HARD it is to be a dog.

 relocation package

Poor Parker. He probably feels second-rate these days. First he had to give up some prime real estate when Emma was born, and we had to reduce his stately pillows from three to one. Now, he's having his food and drink relocated at will. Luckily, he's a mellow dude. But if we ever wake up to find a giant poop log on Emma's rug, we'll have an idea of who the suspect is. :)

 palling around with Parker

Yes, my kid has her hands in the dog's bowls. Sometimes, this is the only way I can wash the dishes...... :)

"What??"

 two bugs in a rug

On most days, Emma and Parker play well together. She rolls the ball to him, he drops it and rolls it back. Kinda like this:

Added bonus: if you listen closely towards the end, you'll hear emma toot!

But on other days, he is stingy with his love, and doesn't grace us with his attention. Kinda like this:

 Parker's a good dog

Emma was on the ground and I started to film her as she did her army crawl. Well, Parker wanted in on the action, so he sat RIGHT in front of me, with his tail in Emma's face. She couldn't get enough of this moving furry thing and kept grabbing at it. I had to keep saying "good dog, Parker" so he would keep wagging his tail in her face! :)

 Our forgotten child

Poor Parker. He doesn't get nearly as much air time as he used to. So today on our walk, I decided to take a few shots of P-funk, to let him know that we still think he's as handsome and lovable as the day we brought him home. Here's to you kid.

 We did it!

We completed our first race as a family. It wasn't a race in the traditional sense - none of us achieved a personal best. But it was a race to see how long Emma (and Parker) would last of the 3.1 miles we had to walk. You'll be happy to hear that they BOTH lasted the whole time! Emma slept the whole way, and Parker trotted happily through the course with nary a treat to lead him on. It was the perfect day for a morning walk - sunny and crisp. The best part was that Aunt Rachael was with us for the whole week, and she joined us for the walk.

And now.......for the piece de resistance.........
