 tea for two

We have a lot of tea parties around here.  This time, it was in honor of Emma's very first introduction to the world of American Girl.

For her birthday, Gammie took her to the American Girl cafe in McLean, where she was treated like royalty. They had a very special date, and she ate up every minute of the experience.  She came home beaming with pride as a new mommy to the one and only Marie Grace.

She also came home with the remnants of her very own American Girl birthday cake, which played centerpiece during our tea party.  It was chilly outside, but it didn't stop us from clanking our silverware and reading Pinkalicious.  Marie Grace, you have found the right home!

Pinky's up!

 super bass

I happened to catch this the other day, and I played it for the Emster.  We're both obsessed.  Not only with the song, not only with Nikki Minaj, but also with Sophia Grace, who is surely going places.

Check.  this.  mother.  out.

 the 32nd floor

My sister lives in a fabulous Manhattan apartment on the 32nd floor.  Sunshine just pours in the windows, and I hope she doesn't mind when I move in and set up my photo studio right into Margot's room.  :)  Seriously though, the light is amazing up here.  I feel like we are in the clouds of heaven.

We built a fort and the girls read, and jumped and tickled and squealed.  This pictures make my heart burst - I'm so grateful they have each other!

 happy halloween!

Emma was a bride this year.  I count my blessings that she never wavered.  We got the costume in September and I feared she would change her mind at the last minute, but she was SO excited to be going as a bride that it never happened.

We got into the Halloween spirit this year.  We even made a scarecrow for our front 'yard'.  Dressed him, stuffed him and picked out a head for him at the local farm.  And then we watched him get snowed on Saturday night, ha! I was going to be a Snowboarder (hey, I already have the outfit!) but at the last minute I ran out of time.  Besides, it's hard to juggle a snowboard and a camera.  :)

It was a dark and cold Halloween night.  She insisted on wearing the costume without any jacket, but by the last house, she told me she couldn't ring the bell - her fingers were frozen.

Roger dressed up as a ghoul/hooligan.  He managed to scare quite a few neighbors (and probably a few kids too).  Here he is with Poppa, before the evening started.

Of course my little hoarder had to count her stash.  :)
